The Budva branch of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) claims that the drone crash and the absence of the long-announced "event of the century", paid for with hundreds of thousands of euros, have exposed the complete incompetence, but also the worrying capacity for corruption, of the Budva "platform" coalition.
"If nothing else, the failed drone show, acquired without a tender, is proof that they may know how to organize one thing after all - corruption. They are not even ashamed to announce the drone show as an event organized for the first time in Montenegro. It was organized for the first time four years ago in Boka Bay. Instead of publicly apologizing to the citizens for embarrassing Budva, since all regional media are reporting on the debacle and fiasco, the organizers - the Municipality of Budva, the Budva Tourist Organization and the company "Mirnovec", as the contractor - have decided on a pathetic attempt to escape responsibility. Without any evidence, they accuse the Army and Police of Montenegro of the fiasco, because allegedly only they can possess devices for jamming drones. Apparently, someone has taught them well to shift the blame to state authorities so that, in addition to the already paid out fees, they can additionally collect the alleged damage, which is measured in hundreds of thousands of euros," the NSD Budva said in a statement.
They say that the company "Mirnovec" should tell the truth: which high-ranking officials were paid tens of thousands of euros in bribes so that they would be hired for this job.
"Citizens and numerous visitors were fortunately unharmed, but the disappointment will be remembered for a long time. The terrifying question remains - what if someone had been hurt because of their greed and corruption? With this attempt to shift the blame, the organizers and the contractor are clearly trying to cover up their own failure, ignorance and poor organization, and to additionally charge for the failed program and damaged drones. They are trying to add a new, invented 'damage' to the several hundred thousand euros already paid, through another ridiculously expensive combination that they will, according to the established pattern, divide among themselves. The state must urgently react and shed light on this event, or what citizens increasingly fear will be confirmed - that Budva has been abandoned to organized crime and institutional negligence," the NSD Budva statement reads.
Announced as a spectacle never seen before in this region, the drone show that was supposed to be performed in the sky above the Old Town in Budva at midnight on New Year's Eve ended ingloriously.
Around 600 drones fell into the sea and onto the plateau in front of the Port Authority.
The "Mirnovec" pyrotechnics company, which was hired for the New Year's drone show program in Budva, announced yesterday that the drones in Budva were deliberately and systematically shot down by anti-drone jammers, which are usually owned by the police and military.
