The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, attended today's celebration of the unconstitutional Republika Srpska Day in Banja Luka, together with numerous officials from Republika Srpska, Serbia, and countries in the region.
The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously declared this date unconstitutional.
The Office of the Mayor of Pljevlja announced that Vraneš's presence at this event "confirms good relations and cooperation between local communities, as well as the importance of preserving the cultural, historical and spiritual ties of all Serbs, wherever they are."
The central part of the celebration began with a liturgy, led by Patriarch Porfirije of the Serbian Orthodox Church in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior.
"After the liturgy, the celebration program continued with festive events and commemorative events, which highlighted the significance of January 9th as a symbol of identity, freedom and political will of the Serbian people in the Republika Srpska," the statement said.
