Bilateral relations between Montenegro and the United States of America are based on solid foundations of partnership, shared values and mutual trust, assessed President Jakov Milatović and US Ambassador Judy Rising Reinke.
Milatović received the US Ambassador for a farewell visit today and thanked her for her dedicated and dedicated engagement, as well as for the US's long-standing support for the process of overall democratic and institutional development of Montenegro.
The continued US assistance in strengthening the capacities of Montenegrin institutions, improving the rule of law, reforming the judiciary, and fighting organized crime and corruption was particularly highlighted, the President's Office announced.
"The interlocutors assessed that the bilateral relations between Montenegro and the USA are based on solid foundations of partnership, shared values and mutual trust. In this context, the readiness for further development of cooperation and improvement of economic ties through the Economic Dialogue mechanism was emphasized," the statement reads.
During the conversation, the importance of close cooperation between Montenegro and the USA as allies within NATO was emphasized.
Milatović welcomed the efforts of US President Donald Trump aimed at reaching a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, emphasizing that dialogue and diplomatic engagement are key prerequisites for lasting and sustainable peace.
"It was also jointly assessed that the President's upcoming participation in the National Prayer Breakfast in early February in Washington will contribute to the improvement of overall Montenegrin-American relations," the statement reads.
