Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović and outgoing Ambassador of the United States of America (USA) Judy Rising Reinke assessed that strengthening democratic institutions represents the basis for further cooperation with international partners.
As announced by the Government, Ivanovic received Rising Rheinke for a farewell visit.
"During the meeting, opinions were exchanged on the state and prospects of bilateral relations between Montenegro and the United States of America. Ambassador Reising Reinke expressed satisfaction with the cooperation during her mandate and pointed out the importance of the partnership with Montenegro, especially in the area of strengthening institutions and developing economic and political cooperation. Vice President Ivanovic highlighted her contribution to the continuous improvement of bilateral relations and stressed the importance of further strengthening the friendship and strategic alliance between the two countries," the statement said.
The Government added that the focus of the talks was on the results of the cooperation achieved with the US, especially in the area of economic dialogue, including the recent resumption and planning of new rounds of talks within the framework of the economic dialogue. The importance of signing the Memorandum of Economic Cooperation was highlighted, which, as they stated, opens up additional opportunities for trade, investments and joint projects, and which contributes to further strengthening stability and predictability in bilateral and international initiatives.
"A special focus was also placed on the results achieved by Montenegro in the previous period, including the strengthening of democratic institutions, progress in reforms and strategic steps towards membership in the European Union. The interlocutors assessed that the continuity of these processes represents a strong basis for further cooperation with international partners, further strengthening regional stability and improving economic and political connectivity within European and global trends," the statement reads.
The Government said that at the end of the meeting, Ivanovic thanked Rajzing Rajnke for her dedicated work and contribution to strengthening bilateral relations, with best wishes for further professional and personal success.
