The head of the Bosniak Party (BS) parliamentary club, Amer Smailović, announced today that the recording that was released to the public, in which the director of the Secondary Electro-Economic School in Bijelo Polje, Velibor Karličić, sings Chetnik songs, represents a serious alarm for society, and especially for the education system.
"These are songs that glorify an ideology responsible for serious crimes and mass suffering in this region. I call on the Minister of Education, Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović, to urgently get involved and investigate this case, and to publicly state whether she believes that a principal who publicly sings such songs has a place among the young people who should be building the future of this country," Smailović wrote on Facebook.
He added that Montenegro's European path and educational system cannot go hand in hand with the glorification of Chetnik ideology.
"A special responsibility lies with those who manage schools, because it is they who, through their behavior, send a message to young people about what values are desirable and acceptable," said Smailović.
Numanović: I expect an urgent and responsible institutional reaction
Elza Numanović, a member of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) in the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly (MA), sent an open letter to Minister Jakšić-Stojanović regarding the recording of Karličić singing Chetnik songs.
"Dear Madam Minister,
Regarding the publicly released recording in which the principal of a high school in Bijelo Polje can be seen and heard performing songs that glorify Chetnik ideology, I am writing to you with the expectation of an urgent and responsible institutional response. Heads of educational institutions have a special responsibility, because with their behavior, both public and private, they send strong messages to young people. The glorification of ideologies that are historically linked to crimes, divisions and the suffering of the civilian population is incompatible with the values of the Montenegrin education system, its constitutional commitment and its European path, Numanović stressed in a letter submitted to the media by the DPS.
Numanović added that she expects the Ministry to investigate this case without delay, take measures in accordance with the law, and clearly state that an educator is obligated to protect the integrity of their profession and the educational institution they head.
"The protection of children, education and social cohesion must be above any relativization, because without a clear value system, we lose the moral compass necessary to preserve the community.
With respect,
"Elza Numanović, DPS councilor in the Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly," the letter says.
Zirojević: I don't know who this Karličić is, but I propose him as the new vice president of the municipality of Bijelo Polje
Social Democrat MP Nikola Zirojević, reacting to Smailović's announcement, said that he did not know who Karličić was, but that he was proposing him as the new vice president of the municipality of Bijelo Polje.
"It's fascinating to me how these geniuses are always stunned when they see their future coalition partners in Bijelo Polje. I don't know who this Karličić is, but I propose him as the new vice president of the municipality of Bijelo Polje. You know the way, see you in Greater Serbia! Cheers," Zirojević wrote on the social network X.
