The Democratic People's Party (DNP) will no longer be part of the government in Podgorica, announced today the president of the Zeta Municipality and DNP official Mihailo Asanović.
"We will no longer be part of the government in Podgorica... There will be a session of the Assembly (of the Capital City), and you will see if there will be DNP councilors. Don't prejudge whether we are in government. There will be a session of the Assembly, where they (DNP councilors) will not be present, so let's see who Saša Mujović (Mayor of Podgorica), that man who used to be in the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and his chief of staff who manages everything, Vesna Brajović, who is the state secretary and chief of staff in the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP), who assigned and went together with the municipal police officers to meetings in the Police Directorate, she may provide a majority in their previous party, which is DPS, and good luck to them, and we will not participate in government," Asanović told reporters today in the Podgorica settlement of Donja Gorica, where citizens of the Zeta village of Botun are blocking the roundabout and the road to Kokoti.
The residents of Botuni are opposed to the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the Zeta village.
Asanović also said that today the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and the Director of the Landfill, Aleksandar Božović, informed them that the Municipality of Zeta will no longer be able to dispose of municipal waste at the landfill in Tuzi, although, as he stated, it regularly settles all obligations and has no debts.
Asanović said that the Municipality of Zeta allocates around 20.000 euros each month for waste disposal, at a price of 26 euros per ton, and that the current contract expired yesterday, although such contracts are usually extended for three or six months.
He stated that Božović informed the director of the Zeta Municipal Company, Rajka Pantović, about the decision to no longer accept waste from the territory of Zeta.
"When we received that email, I spoke with the Mayor of Bar, Dušan Raičević, because I know that they have a landfill that is territorially closest to us, and the Municipality of Zeta will be forced to transport its waste to Bar from tomorrow and pay for it, just as we were paying for it to Podgorica," said Asanović.
He added that, unlike the Municipality of Zeta, there are local governments that owe tens of thousands of euros, but that he did not want to name them on this occasion.
He thanked Raičević for his willingness to accept waste from Zeta, emphasizing that such a solution would be more expensive and that the additional costs would be reflected on citizens.
"Let the citizens see what certain parties are doing. We have a problem with the Democrats," Asanović said.
