Representatives of the Bosniak Party (BS) in Bijelo Polje held their first meeting today with representatives of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) on the topic of overcoming the political crisis that arose at the end of last year, said Ernad Suljević, president of the Municipal Board (OO) of the BS Bijelo Polje and minister in the Government of Montenegro, for "Vijesti".
"As a political entity that won almost 5.000 votes in the last parliamentary elections, thereby confirming its status as the single strongest party in Bijelo Polje, we feel an additional responsibility towards citizens to conduct investment policy in a better, more efficient manner and in the interest of the balanced development of the city," said Suljević.
He added that during the meeting, the key challenges they faced in the previous period were discussed, as well as issues related to the dynamics of the development of Bijelo Polje.
"It was noted that in certain segments there was room for more efficient work and better quality results, and that in the coming period it is necessary to devote additional attention to solving the identified problems. We see Bijelo Polje as a development center for the north and Montenegro, which is why it is important to ensure more intensive investments, especially in areas where Bosniaks live, primarily in the development of local infrastructure. Special focus must be directed at creating conditions for young people to stay, their employment and professional development, so that they can build their future precisely in their own city. It is also necessary to devote more attention to the development of the economy, bearing in mind that every businessman is an important partner in the overall economic progress of Bijelo Polje," said Suljević.
He emphasized that identity issues should not be ignored.
"In this sense, we are committed to establishing the Public Institution 'Avdo Međedović', as well as to returning the endowment of the Hadžidanuša Mosque to the Islamic Community. It was concluded that Bijelo Polje needs new investments, and that it is necessary to establish more intensive, concrete and continuous communication with the Government of Montenegro in order to implement projects of importance to the city and its citizens," said Suljević.
He said that the BS is convinced that the coalition partners will take all of the above into account, and that their bodies will make decisions that will be in the interest of all citizens of Bijelo Polje.
"We expect that a new meeting will be organized soon, at which we will discuss the next steps and priority activities in more detail," Suljević concluded.
The session at which the budget was supposed to be adopted at the end of last year was interrupted due to the absence of a BS councilor, who expressed dissatisfaction with the cooperation with the coalition partner - DPS.
BS then announced that they would offer DPS a platform, with which they are seeking, among other things, the position of mayor of the municipality, adding that, if the new agreement is not acceptable to partners from DPS and the European Union, it will be offered to the parties that form the government at the state level.
The Municipal Assembly session at which the budget is expected to be adopted is scheduled for January 31st.
