The Movement for Podgorica announced today that one of the key measures from their election program - subsidizing extended stay for children in Podgorica in the amount of 100 euros per month per child - is now close to being implemented.
"From the very moment the government was formed, the Movement for Podgorica has been clearly and consistently focused on the implementation of this program activity, because we believe that family support must be one of the priorities of city policy. This is a measure that we have been working on for a long time and responsibly, through detailed analyses, checks of budgetary possibilities and discussions with parents and relevant stakeholders, so that it would be fair, sustainable and of high quality in practice, and we would especially like to emphasize that in the last two months we have been working intensively on its implementation and additional improvement," the Movement for Podgorica statement states.
They emphasized that this measure was not intended only as financial assistance, but also as an incentive to work further on improving the conditions of extended stay, through better standards, organization, and a safer environment for children.
"Today, when inflation is a huge problem and when the rise in the costs of everyday life is increasingly burdening households, we believe it is important for local politics to react decisively and responsibly. Therefore, we hope that this measure will at least slightly relieve the family budget of citizens, but also help parents to more easily organize their time and obligations," the statement states.
They added that work is also underway to develop an application that will make it even easier and faster for parents to apply and exercise this right, through a simpler procedure, clear steps and less administrative burden. "The Movement for Podgorica sends a message that this is not the end, but a continuation of the family support policy. We will continue to work on new solutions that will further improve the status of parents and the quality of life in our city," the statement concluded.
