The Zeta Municipality announced today that it is calling on Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović "to urgently declare whether and in what capacity he offered subcontracting jobs to the residents of Botuni in the presence of the above-mentioned persons and, if so, on the basis of which law he did so on behalf of the Turkish Kuzu Group, which is trying to build a wastewater treatment plant on the territory of Zeta."
"This scandal does not surprise us, but only shows the extent to which Mr. Mujović is steeped in dishonest actions, and the Montenegrin public is shown what we have been talking about from the very beginning, that someone took money for this corrupt business and that they do not want to give up this business at the cost of their lives," the statement from the Municipality of Zeta states.
The local government added that they are calling on the Prosecutor's Office "to urgently get involved if these individuals, led by the mayor of Podgorica, confirm that this was an offer to the residents of Botun and to determine whether there are elements of a criminal offense."
"We are clearly telling them, you are trying in vain what neither Mugoša, nor Stijepović, nor Vuković did, from offering compensation, jobs, jobs, various combinations, you have hit a hard nut and you will break the teeth of both Botunjani and Zeta. For the last time, we are telling Messrs. Mujović, Bašanović and Šćepanović, as well as Mrs. Brajović, you will not work as a collector on the territory of Zeta and the sooner you are aware of this fact, the easier it will be to get out of this difficult situation in which the whole of Montenegro is suffering," the statement reads.
The Municipality of Zeta said that they are also asking the Director of the Police Administration, Lazar Šćepanović, "given that he was present at the meeting, why he did not inform the competent Prosecutor's Office ex officio about the possible existence of a criminal offense, considering that he is zealous in his speeches about suppressing them and whether this is true and who was present at the meeting, and if this is not true, all officials of the Municipality will resign, and we call on the Prosecutor's Office to hear the citizens of Botun as well as the above-mentioned persons, but also officials of the Municipality of Zeta if necessary to hear us all."
"In our final address, we once again urge you to abandon this project on the territory of our municipality if you want to maintain peace, stability, and the good neighborly relations that we have nurtured for decades," said the Municipality of Zeta.
Botuna resident Jagoš Bećirović said yesterday during a traffic blockade on the Podgorica - Bar road, at the roundabout turning for Podgorica Airport, that Mujović is "the biggest culprit for us being here."
"If he had torn up the harmful contract, nothing would have happened here. They called us to his office to offer us that our people would dig for this collector. We don't want to dig our own grave. Whoever leaves, may God judge them. We are a people who have suffered for 60 years because of someone else's mistake, incinerators are moving around Europe, we ran after them. This will also harm Podgorica, and no one is talking about it," Bećirović said yesterday.
Some residents of Zeta blocked traffic on the Podgorica - Bar road yesterday from 12:00 to 16:00, at the roundabout turning for Podgorica Airport.
They oppose the construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Botun.
