A delegation from the Montenegrin Ministry of Defense is participating in the International Maritime Defense Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX) in Doha, the ministry announced, adding that the presence at the event confirms Montenegro's commitment to following global trends in the defense sector.
The Ministry of Defense said that the Montenegrin delegation, which is participating in the event at the invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Council of Ministers and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, is led by State Secretary Marko Marković.
As they stated, the delegation will visit the stands of renowned international companies and will learn about the latest achievements and innovations in the field of military industry.
"Given that the modernization of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Montenegro is one of the priorities in the development of overall defense capacities, and is also important for regional, Adriatic and Mediterranean security, attendance at this prestigious international event represents a unique opportunity to establish contacts with experts and leaders from the defense sector," the statement says.
The Ministry said that Marković met with Al Thani on the sidelines of the exhibition.
Marković stated that he was pleased with the invitation to participate in the fair and the opportunity for the meeting, emphasizing that this was the first time that a delegation from the Ministry of Defense participated in DIMDEX.
He emphasized that Montenegro and Qatar have friendly relations, and that there is room for improving bilateral defense cooperation in the future.
"He also highlighted Qatar's contribution to regional stability, with a focus on partnership with NATO through participation in the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative," the statement said.
Al Thani said that Qatar is ready to further develop cooperation with Montenegro in the field of defense, recognizing Montenegro's role as a reliable NATO member and leader in the European integration process.
"He expressed Qatar's commitment to strengthening its partnership with NATO, as a key prerequisite for effectively addressing current security challenges that arise from all directions and domains," the statement said.
The Ministry said that DIMDEX, which is held every other year, is among the leading international events in the field of maritime defense.
"By combining an exhibition and conference section, the fair event presents the latest developments in the defense sector. Representatives of numerous companies from the defense industry will present their products and innovations, while the conference section will provide a platform for discussion on the future of maritime defense and the exchange of expert opinions," the statement said.
It is stated that the participation of the Ministry of Defense delegation at DIMDEX once again confirmed Montenegro's commitment to monitoring global trends in the defense sector, developing national capacities and strengthening credibility on the international stage.
