Prime Minister Milojko Spajić met today in Davos with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, two officials confirmed that official preparations are underway for Rutte's visit to Montenegro, the Prime Minister's office announced.
The visit, as emphasized during the conversation, will be an opportunity for Montenegro to present its investments in defense and key infrastructure.
"The meeting also discussed current global security challenges, with the message that it is necessary to strengthen European defense capabilities, as well as that the relationship between NATO and the EU is of exceptional importance for the overall security of Europe and beyond," the statement reads.
Spajić previously announced on X that he had met with Rutte and that they had talked about preparing his official visit to Montenegro.
"Our country is meeting its planned defense investments and investments in key infrastructure, civil resilience, and cybersecurity. At a challenging time for Europe and the world, we spoke about security challenges, emphasizing the need to strengthen European defense capabilities, and that the NATO-EU relationship is crucial for the security of Europe and beyond," the Prime Minister wrote.
Spajić announced that he had a productive conversation with the European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, Michael McGrath, who, as announced by the Prime Minister, will soon visit Montenegro.
"Brussels says that key progress has been made in the rule of law under this government, thereby accelerating the path to the EU," Spajić wrote.
