The President of the Danilovgrad Municipal Assembly, Predrag Pajović, said today that Aleksandra Pavicevic and Goran Kalezić, who were councilors of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), informed him that they would act as independent councilors in the future.
He said at the start of today's local parliament session that letters from two councillors about the decision were delivered to him on January 20th.
In May last year, the DNP announced that the party's president, Milan Knežević, would propose at the first upcoming session of the Presidency that Kalezić and Pavićević be expelled from the party, after they, together with councilors from the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), voted to dismiss the director of the Day Care Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities and Adults with Disabilities, Violeta Golubović.
"In its ten-year history, not a single DNP MP or councilor has voted together with DPS to dismiss their NSD colleagues," they said at the time.
DNP: Kalezić to return his mandate, he is not a party member from May 2025
The President of the DNP Danilovgrad Committee, Mirko Đurović, announced that Kalezić has not been a member of the party since May 2025, "nor does anyone within the party count on him in a political or organizational sense."
"We remind you that the Democratic People's Party is a collective political entity in which decisions are not made according to the will of individuals, but exclusively through party bodies. Precisely because of inconsistency with the positions, principles and decisions of the Presidency, Mr. Kalezić has been excluded from membership," the statement reads.
Đurović called on Kalezić to "show political and personal correctness and return the mandate to those from whom he gained trust", because he "did not receive the councilor's mandate in his personal name, but in the name of Milan Knežević and the Democratic People's Party".
"We believe that it is not fitting for him to undermine his own reputation in his later years and to renounce the principles he has advocated for years, but rather to remain fair to the citizens and the political organization that he has betrayed with his actions. It is not surprising that Mr. Kalezić is trying to justify his so-called resignation with alleged 'local issues', because he is obviously not bothered by the work of the Democratic People's Party in other municipalities and areas where, among other things, members of his immediate family hold positions thanks to the trust of that same party. It is particularly ironic to talk about alleged poor communication, bearing in mind that communication on his part was obviously reduced exclusively to satisfying personal and family interests in various spheres, since he used the support and personnel policy of the Democratic People's Party without any hesitation, which he is now trying to discredit because it suddenly suits him more politically. This approach clearly shows that the problem is not in the party's politics, but in personal and narrow local interests, which further renders meaningless any attempt to present his own actions as principled or ideological. motivated. 'Honor and disgrace live forever,'" the statement reads.
