Minister of Human and Minority Rights Fatmir Đeka has been invited to attend the Prayer Breakfast, which will be held in early February in Washington, D.C., the Ministry confirmed to "Vijesti".
The invitation sent to him states that the President of the United States (US) and members of Congress will gather on February 4th and 5th for the 74th Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill with the aim of building and developing international relations between the participating countries.
One of the most important international political and diplomatic gatherings, it brings together political, religious and social leaders from 140 countries around the world.
The main part of the program includes a speech by the US President and a special guest, along with bilateral meetings and additional activities tailored to the participants.
The Prayer Breakfast is a tradition that has been going on for more than six decades, and every year, on the first Thursday in February, the President of the United States, members of Congress, American politicians and military leaders, as well as distinguished guests from numerous countries around the world, gather in prayer together.
This is the fourth time that Đeka has been invited to attend the Prayer Breakfast.
Two years ago, on the sidelines of the central event, Minister Đeka attended the signing of the twinning agreement between the Municipality of Ulcinj and the Municipality of Staten Island in New York, which was signed by the mayors of the two cities.
The signed agreement with the municipality of Staten Island envisages the establishment of cooperation in many areas of importance to the two municipalities, especially in the areas of culture, education, economy and institutional cooperation.
