The decision of President Jakov Milatović to sign the adopted laws that have passed the filters of parliamentary committees and the Brussels administration is a rational move, said Boris Pejović, Secretary General of the Europe Now Movement and Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
"It is very important that President Milatović has put aside his personal animosity and attempt to humiliate European institutions and the Parliament with banal explanations, at least when it comes to laws that are crucial for closing negotiation chapters. If we take into account that this year we have intensive work to close another 20 negotiation chapters, then we hope that in the future the president will not create 'in-house theater' with European laws," Pejović said.
Milatović announced this morning that he had promulgated 25 laws that parliament had passed on February 2, and which he had returned for reconsideration. He said that returning these laws to MPs, with the expectation that they would read and seriously consider them, would have no effect.
