A joint session of the party bodies of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD) in an expanded composition, which discussed the current political situation in Montenegro, was held today at the Serbian House in Podgorica.
The session began around 12 noon and lasted less than an hour.
The President of the Municipality of Nikšić and NSD official Marko Kovačević did not want to specify the details of the meeting.
"We have defined the decisions. The media will receive more details later," Kovačević told reporters after the session.
The President of the Parliament of Montenegro and leader of the NSD, Andrija Mandić, convened a session on February 4th.
Television Vijesti reported earlier today that it has unofficially learned that the NSD will not leave the coalition For the Future of Montenegro (ZBCG).
The NSD unofficially said that the coalition is secure, but that they cannot influence the decision of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), led by Milan Knežević, if it decides to leave the coalition after leaving the executive branch.
The DNP left the state government and the ruling coalition in Podgorica a few days ago, after the government last week refused to support their demands to resolve identity issues, namely - introducing the Serbian language as an official language, amending the Law on Montenegrin Citizenship (introducing dual citizenship with Serbia), and standardizing the tricolor as the "national flag". In addition, the DNP also demanded a dialogue on the, for them, controversial construction of a wastewater treatment plant in the Zeta settlement of Botun.
After the DNP's departure to the opposition, the majority at the state level remains stable, while a serious government crisis has arisen in Podgorica, which has called its survival into question.
In addition, the question of the survival of the ZBCG coalition, consisting of the NSD and the DNP, is also open. Knežević announced a few days ago that the party presidency had tasked him with initiating talks with Mandić about the future of their alliance as soon as possible.
