At the meeting of all party bodies and officials of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD), a clear, unambiguous and unified position was confirmed that the NSD should continue the work it has begun within the framework of a parliamentary majority and a stable Government of Montenegro, in order to, among other things, make the return of the former regime of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) impossible.
This was announced today by the NSD on the party's official Facebook page, after a session held today at the Serbian House in Podgorica.
"The session of all party bodies and officials of the New Serbian Democracy took place in an atmosphere of fraternal agreement, complete understanding and unity. Our representatives from Pljevlja to Ulcinj, from Plav to Herceg Novi, gathered in Podgorica today, with the aim of, in today's murky political waters, transmitting the voice from the head and heart of the Serbian people, enabling the party to make decisions appropriate to today's times and the challenges we face. All participants in the joint session started from the fact that the Serbian people have fought bravely and courageously against totalitarian regimes for decades, and that after the overthrow of the Milo Đukanović regime, they have won the right to participate in leading this country and that its representatives have shown that they can do so more successfully than those we removed in the elections," the NSD statement states.
The party, led by the President of the Parliament of Montenegro, Andrija Mandić, said that the position has been confirmed "that what the Serbian people have gained with difficulty must not be lost lightly, that the achievements we have made after entering the executive branch in 2024 must not be discarded."
"Our organization alone may be able to do many things faster, but not more safely without reliable partners. We also concluded that we must never slam the door behind us because it will be difficult to open it again. Also, a clear, unambiguous and unified position was confirmed that the New Serbian Democracy should continue the work it has begun within the framework of a parliamentary majority and a stable Government of Montenegro, in order to, among other things, make the return of the former DPS regime impossible. We cannot solve everything that was unresolved or incorrectly constitutionally and legally regulated decades ago in one leap. We can only do that if the people give us the necessary support and the number of people's representatives who are ready to support such solutions and incorporate them into the systemic acts of the state," the NSD said.
The party states that they are committed "to enduring all the trials and challenges that have been imposed on us, because we want to continue working for the benefit of our people and this country, in a direction that can be called a kind of strategy of national responsibility."
"The session confirmed the continuous policy of unification pursued by our party, which was reflected in the formation of the former Democratic Front, as well as the later coalition 'For the Future of Montenegro'. Guided by the idea of 'protect your friends, be responsible and care for the people', the participants of the joint session expressed a unanimous position that the coalition 'For the Future of Montenegro' should be preserved," said the NSD.
The statement also states that the acclamation gave support to NSD President Andrija Mandić, "to define, in fraternal communication with the President of the Democratic People's Party of Montenegro Milan Knežević, a joint approach to all issues close to the Serbian people, because it is precisely togetherness that makes us stronger. On the same occasion, the party president was given a mandate to hold talks with Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and all presidents of the parliamentary majority parties."
"Some see further, some faster, some more thoroughly, but only together, in coordination with partners, can we see the whole. For the NSD and our people, what will happen tomorrow is much more important than what happened yesterday, which is why we want to protect all our allies and continue to work together. Despite the different choices that the parties make individually, there are always many topics where joint work is needed for the benefit of those we represent. New Serbian Democracy would like to once again thank all the media outlets that paid special attention to today's session, thus providing the ultimate proof that our party is rightfully perceived as an important factor in the political life of Montenegro, as well as the region," the NSD said.
