The Europe Now Movement (PES) Councilors' Club in Podgorica announced today that the Democratic People's Party (DNP) Councilors' Club in the Capital City Assembly has become part of the same opposition team led in Podgorica by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS).
They made this statement in response to today's announcement by the DNP Councilors' Club in the Capital City Assembly, which states, among other things, that DNP councilors will not participate in the further work of the Capital City Assembly.
"Colleagues and until recently closest associates, we are glad that you have finally come out into the public eye and stepped out of the shadow of your party leader and his closest associate and the president of the neighboring municipality. We are glad that you have definitely shown how important the development of the city and the status of the citizens of Podgorica are to you, who elected you to protect their interests, and not anyone else's, whether they are a few or a few hundred kilometers away. We have read everything you have written yourself and regretfully state that you have now finally become part of the same opposition team that is led by the DPS in Podgorica. Now with them you have a majority for everything you want as the opposition. And good luck to you," the PES Councilors' Club said in a statement.
They added that they do not expect DNP councilors to resign.
"We, together with our reliable partners, who confirmed this yesterday, will continue to do everything we can and to stand in the way of all destruction. We expected more courage in your ranks and that we would confront our positions in the future at the sessions of the Assembly, and not that you would send poisonous arrows through the media from the sidelines. Of course, we expect that, when you say that you will no longer perform your councilor functions, you will be principled 'as always' and submit your resignations. And not only you, but also all directors and members of the governing bodies in city enterprises who come from the DNP. If that is strange to you, the least we expect is that you return the money to the city budget due to your inaction and finally show that the interests of citizens and Podgorica come first, and not narrow-party interests," said the PES Councilors' Club.
They said that it was DPS councilors who raised their hands in support of the DNP councilors' proposals in the Capital City Assembly.
"When you are talking about possible cooperation between PES and the Democratic Party of Socialists, do not forget, colleagues, that it was precisely the councilors of Milo Đukanović's former party who raised their hands in favor of your proposals in the Capital City Assembly, such as the one about increasing councilors' compensation that you now want to receive for inactivity. They looked at each other in health," reads a statement from the PES Councilors' Club Podgorica.
