Our society must have a sense of responsibility when it spreads religious, national or any other form of hatred and intolerance on the internet, networks and public spaces, distributes threatening texts aimed at intimidating and endangering the safety of individuals and their families, just because of the position they express, opinion or work they do, said Valentina Minić, president of the Women's Forum Democrats, and called on all citizens to report such cases to the authorities.

She spoke out after the SNP announced that their MP Slađana Kaluđerović had been threatened on social media.

"In the context of the violence we are witnessing, not only in the case of my colleague, prominent MP Slađana Kaluđerović, who, through her professional relationship, has always clearly, argumentatively, culturally and measuredly communicated and expressed her political views and beliefs, taking into account and respecting the right of the interlocutor to a different view and opinion, I strongly condemn every violent thought, intention, attempt and act directed and designed to in any way (and especially that with elements of criminal liability - which is directed not only at her but also at her family) belittle, discredit, insult, threaten with persecution, objectify and attempt to deprive not only the prominent, but any woman of her dignity," Minić stated in a press release.

She assessed that it would be terrible and devastating for the entire society if such content of clear threats of expulsion, insults, hate speech, misogyny and primitivism were not condemned by all those involved in public work, especially those involved in the protection of human rights.

"It is clear to us that as holders of public office and politicians, we are obliged to 'endure' greater pressure and criticism from the public - but even in 'endure' there must be a limit! Where is that limit? - is a question that has worried me for many years," said Minić.

She said that the reaction of the competent authorities is important, as is the epilogue, and that she therefore welcomes Slađana Kaluđerović's report because, according to Minić, it sends a message to criminals and violent people that threats in the future will not only be met with reprimand and public condemnation, but also with concrete punishment.

"It is clear that criminals, violent people and predators (whether male or female) do not need any reason to harass us and that we must put an end to the myths that 'we are causing our own fate', that 'we are to blame' for writing about the mafia, for dealing with 'serious or frivolous topics', 'dealing with sensitive topics such as language, religion and nation'... I call on all citizens to report such cases without delay, because today it is us, and tomorrow it will be some girl, boy or simple human being who has the right to safely do their job and to their opinion and attitude and to personal dignity and to safety and security - not only personal, but also their family! I will also remind you of all other rights guaranteed not only by the Constitution of Montenegro, but also by international law through a series of conventions that we, as a future EU member state, ratified long ago. Let this be an invitation to everyone to start a campaign where we will publicly announce such cases and also report them to the competent authorities. Montenegro "Gora must remain a state of multinational, multiethnic and multireligious harmony, peace and tolerance. Slađo, support! Don't 'tolerate' - publish - report!", her statement concludes.
