Minister of Defense Dragan Krapović met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Montenegro, Khamis Rashed Ahmed Alshemeili.
As announced by the Ministry of Defense, Krapović emphasized that the fruitful and successful cooperation that the two countries are achieving in areas such as economy, investment, tourism, energy and innovation confirms strong partnership relations.
He reiterated Montenegro's readiness to expand cooperation to the field of defense, which he also pointed out during a recent meeting with the UAE Minister of Defense, Sheikh Al Maktoum, in Dubai.
"Speaking about foreign policy priorities, Minister Krapović emphasized Montenegro's strong commitment to NATO principles, collective security and stability, emphasizing the importance of the alliance in the face of increasingly pronounced geopolitical challenges. The Minister assessed strengthening cooperation with countries outside the Euro-Atlantic borders as equally important, since in complex global circumstances, expanding the partnership network represents a strategic imperative," it was announced.
Alshemeili, it is added, expressed satisfaction with Montenegro's openness to cooperation, as well as its efforts to strengthen and expand allied and partnership relations.
He emphasized the readiness of the United Arab Emirates to improve bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, as well as to implement concrete joint initiatives in the coming period.
