After a certain return to power, we will create the conditions for Montenegro to finally get a Montenegrin House in New York, promised the president of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Danijel Živković, at a forum with the diaspora in New York.
As stated in the statement of his party, Živković told the gathered representatives of the diaspora that the idea of the Montenegrin House in New York, initiated by the former government and our successful emigrants, aims to preserve the ties between Montenegro and its diaspora, and that, as he pointed out, no one should feel like a guest there, but that everyone who has Montenegro in their hearts should be hosts.
During an exchange of views with the DPS parliamentary delegation, diaspora representatives expressed concern about attempts to undermine the values of a multiethnic society as the greatest achievement of contemporary Montenegro, increasing distrust in institutions and constant attacks on the dignity of independent Montenegro and its anti-fascist heritage, DPS said.
The DPS leadership and diaspora representatives agreed that the focus of state policy must urgently return to reforms, strengthening institutions and the European integration process, emphasizing that Montenegro has a capable and responsible diaspora that is ready to contribute to its European and Euro-Atlantic future.
The statement states that the common assessment is that in the future, we should work on creating conditions for the active inclusion of highly educated young people from the diaspora in the scientific and economic life of Montenegro, so that the modern path of development would be simpler and more successful, and therefore devoid of the handicap of the departure of the most educated personnel from the country.
