The Women's Association of the Europe Now Movement strongly condemns the threats, insults and hate speech to which MP Slađana Kaluđerović was exposed on social networks due to her publicly expressed political stance, said Ana Božić Dudić, coordinator of the Women's Association of the Europe Now Movement (PES) in Zeta.
"Such attacks represent unacceptable pressure, an attempt at intimidation and another example of the violence that women in public and political spaces face every day," the statement said.
The PES Women's Association expressed full and unequivocal support for Slađana Kaluđerović and her right to freely, without fear or threats, perform her parliamentary function and participate in democratic processes.
"We particularly condemn any form of gender-based violence, insults on national or religious grounds, and especially such heinous threats of persecution. We call on the competent institutions to react urgently and decisively, identify and prosecute those responsible, and send a clear message that threats, hate speech and violence are unacceptable and punishable in a democratic society. The Women's Association of the Europe Now Movement remains committed to the fight for a society in which respect, dialogue and security are guaranteed for everyone, especially women in public life," the statement concluded.
