The Žabljak municipal board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) assessed that the display of the tricolor on the local government building is "the latest provocation directed by Andrija Mandić", and that the Durmitor Initiative was "forced to vote through blackmail".
"At today's session of the Žabljak Municipal Assembly, the government, led by the Durmitor Initiative, adopted a conclusion on displaying the tricolor on buildings and premises of local government, as well as on all institutions founded by the Žabljak Municipal Assembly. This is a cheap attempt to whitewash Andrija Mandić for his decision to remain in the Government at a time when the DNP left power on the basis of the 'Serbian cause'. So, today, because Andrija Mandić is forced to prove 'his Serbness', which he betrayed by choosing to remain in the comfortable chair of the President of the Assembly, the citizens of Montenegro should be held hostage to his backward, anti-state policy," the Žabljak DPS announced.
They add that the events in Žabljak represent the latest "provocation directed by Andrija Mandić, whose politics constantly tries to humiliate Montenegro and its symbols - the flag, coat of arms and anthem. It is also a fact that the Durmitor Initiative has joined them in this plan today."
"It is clear as day, after today's vote, that the Durmitor Initiative was blackmailed and voted for this provocative act, in order to secure the support of the ZBCG and the Democrats for the controversial Decision on determining the location for the construction of a facility of public benefit: a city square, a public garage with access roads and accompanying facilities. As a reminder, the ZBCG were until recently fierce opponents of the aforementioned decision due to legal shortcomings, which were warned about by the Chief Administrator of the Municipality of Žabljak, the Protector of Property and the Head of the Cadastre during the discussion at the session itself. The President of the Žabljak Municipal Assembly also confirmed in the final minutes that they would vote for a decision that is not in accordance with the law. In the end, the Democratic Party of Socialists will not allow Andrija Mandić's followers to humiliate the state and denigrate its constitutionally established symbols, because for the citizens of Žabljak, Montenegro is their mother, and the Montenegrin flag is sacred, while some who represent them in the local parliament, for the sake of a bag of dinars, call another country their motherland and hold another country accountable," it writes. in a statement from DPS Žabljak.
