The European Union will today request the dissolution of the capital's Assembly, Televizija Vijesti has learned unofficially.
If their initiative gains a majority in the Podgorica parliament, it would lead to new snap elections in Podgorica, the second in less than two years.
For the initiative to enter the procedure, it needs to be supported by at least 20 councilors, which means that the European Union, which has three councilors, will need the support of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), which has 19.
The current Podgorica government lost its majority in the local parliament after three councilors from the Democratic People's Party of Milan Knežević and one councilor from Free Montenegro left power.
The European Union will present the initiative to break the institutional blockade of the Capital at a press conference at 13 p.m.
