Anđela Vojinović, a member of the Democratic Montenegro party in the Parliament of Montenegro, sent an initiative to the Minister of Health, Vojislav Šimun, to re-establish the Health Center in the Tološi neighborhood in Podgorica, acting on the appeals and requests of the citizens of this part of the capital.
This was announced today by Democratic Montenegro.
"The Tološi settlement represents one of the larger urban areas of Podgorica, with a constantly growing population, including a significant number of elderly people, chronically ill people, people with disabilities and families with small children. The closure of the Tološi Health Center has significantly hindered citizens' access to primary health care, which is contrary to the principles of accessibility and equal territorial distribution of health services," the statement states.
Democratic Montenegro added that the initiative specifically emphasizes that there are already spatial capacities in Tološi that were previously used for healthcare needs, which is why the reopening of the Health Center or permanent clinic could be realized without additional infrastructure investments, through the rational use of existing resources.
"Primary health care is the foundation of the health system, and it has been proposed to the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Capital City of Podgorica and health centers, to consider the possibility of reopening the Health Center in Tološi or establishing a permanent clinic with full capacity for basic health services. This initiative is based on legitimate demands of citizens and represents a concrete step towards improving the quality of life and strengthening trust in the institutions of the system. A statement on this initiative is expected from the Ministry of Health, as well as information on possible plans and deadlines for its implementation," the Democrats said in a statement.
