The inquiry committee dealing with attacks on journalists and the activities of the "Black Threes" will question former Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović, it was decided at a session of that parliamentary body.
The hearing was proposed by Democratic MP Momčilo Leković, and the initiative was supported unanimously.
Explaining the initiative, Leković said that it was logical for the committee to take statements from Đukanović regarding the murders of the editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper "Dan", Duško Jovanović, and Goran Žugić.
He recalled that Djukanovic, at the time when these murders occurred, was covering the most important state functions.
The President of the Inquiry Committee, Andrija Nikolić, said that the initiative to question Đukanović came about in order to divert attention from certain topics.
"There have been many announced initiatives, and of all of them, we have now come to the former president, obviously to politically change the game on the board, in the absence of expectations of attention regarding the work and greater attractive results," Nikolić said.
Leković requested that the Inquiry Committee hear Đukanović at the first subsequent session.
After the vote, Nikolić said that he would later agree on the date for the session.
