Montenegro's European integration is entering a decisive phase, and the support of the Bundestag has particular weight in that process, said the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
During his visit to Munich, he spoke with CDU/CSU MPs Peter Beyer, Karl Philipp Sachsenrach, and Tilman Kuban about the next steps on Montenegro's path to membership by 2028.
"The German Bundestag has a significant role in deciding on further stages of enlargement, which is why it is crucial that Montenegro continues to deliver concrete and measurable results. The rule of law, a determined fight against corruption and strong institutions remain the foundation of credible membership. Germany supports Montenegro's European perspective, while insisting on the consistent implementation of reforms," Milatović wrote on the X network.
He announced that he will visit Germany in mid-April.
"And I will address the Bundestag, in order to further strengthen political support and accelerate the completion of our European path. Our goal is clear: EU membership by 2028, based on reforms, trust in partners and results that citizens can feel," said Milatović.
