The European Alliance Bijelo Polje offered political entities in the Bijelo Polje local parliament a platform to unblock the work of the Municipal Assembly, focusing solely on the adoption of the budget, in order to avoid forced administration.

Councilor of the European Union Adnan Striković recalled that this northern municipality is going through a deep political crisis with a non-existent majority due to negotiations between the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the Bosniak Party, and called on councilors, regardless of party, to vote on the budget through a quorum of 19 councilors.

The Bijelo Polje Municipal Assembly session has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 17th, and so far, according to unofficial information from "Vijesti", no agreement has been reached between BS and DPS regarding the exercise of power.

Whether the session will be held on Tuesday will be known tomorrow, after the collegium of the President of the Municipal Assembly, Selma Omerović.

The session of the Municipal Assembly, at which the budget was to be adopted, was interrupted at the end of last year due to the non-attendance of the Bosniak Party, which expressed dissatisfaction with the cooperation with the coalition partner - DPS.

Striković pointed out that it is clear that a parliamentary majority in Bijelo Polje de facto does not exist, which is why he called for a gathering of 19 councilors, regardless of which political group they belong to, to hold a session and adopt the budget.

He criticized opposition leaders who have been boycotting the session for some time.

"The only justification would be that the opposition wants to prove that the majority is dysfunctional, which is no longer debatable. That cannot be an argument for not wanting to come to the session. The majority does not exist, you must give the citizens of Bijelo Polje a quorum to adopt decisions that are important to them. You can not attend and vote for all political decisions that would result from the session. But in this way you are not endangering DPS or BS, and least of all ES, but you are endangering every citizen of Bijelo Polje equally, regardless of which political party they belong to," he said.

Striković noted that the European Union will not support any unprincipled agreement between BS and DPS, new appointments to BS, and the like, and emphasized that he does not see any desire on the part of BS to reach any agreement, but rather that it is about buying time.

"This is about procrastination and dragging it into something that leads to forced administration in Bijelo Polje, which cannot be useful for BS either, because it would jeopardize the position of the President of the Assembly. Everyone else, starting with the President of the Municipality, would remain in their positions, so neither BS nor the opposition, which accepts all this passively, can profit from it, except for some irrational fear that in this way they are helping DPS. And this cannot be help for DPS, but voting on the budget can only be help for the citizens of Bijelo Polje," said Striković.

He called for an agreement among any 15 councilors, emphasizing that he would personally be in charge of securing four European Union councilors to vote on the budget.

Commenting on the negotiations with DPS, Striković assessed that the question is whether they themselves in BS are aware of why they got into all this, and whether it is "possibly some directive from higher party bodies, and that the information from those places is not accessible to them."

"So I won't go into a deeper analysis, this is bad for the citizens of Bijelo Polje, it's not a cliché that they suffer the most. Those who are employed through various engagements that are not permanent contracts, which are difficult to implement and are needed for the work of certain municipal bodies, suffer, students, businesses, our girls and women who want to engage in women's businesses, because all these funds cannot be realized unless the budget is adopted," concluded Striković.
