The statement by the Minister of European Integration, Maida Gorčević, that the goal is “sustainable and responsible membership, based on consistent respect for European rules and values” sounds encouraging and fundamentally correct. Therefore, Montenegro must stop treating the EU integration process only as satisfying administrative procedures, without a fundamental change in behavior and a deep transformation of society.
This was said by Jelena Knežević, a councilor of the Party of European Progress in the Assembly of the Capital City of Podgorica.

"Because the European Union is not just a set of procedures - it is also a community of societies that share the same values: a community that unequivocally condemns war crimes and the glorification of criminals; a community that protects the constitutional order and sovereignty of member states; a community in which institutions function without blockages and political blackmail; a community in which judges are appointed in accordance with the law, and the highest courts are not kept in institutional paralysis; a community in which there is no room for political pressure on the prosecution and judiciary; a community in which the foreign policy course is not questioned depending on daily politics; a community that provides health care to all citizens who often need medical assistance, especially urgent care, and in which hospitals are not unprotected," Knežević said in a statement.
She said that the European integration process is not a set of stages that need to be passed and chapters that need to be closed, but a unique chance for Montenegro's progress - institutionally, economically, and in terms of values.
