The European Progress Party (SEP) announced that their members will sign an initiative to shorten the mandate of the capital's Assembly.
They said that the SEP's political priority is the removal of "the irresponsible parliamentary government that has lost legitimacy" and which "has single-handedly caused a deep political and institutional crisis and brought the capital to its knees."
The initiative to shorten the term of office of the local assembly was sent to all councilor clubs by the opposition European Alliance.
"Therefore, we support the initiative to shorten the mandate of the Capital City Assembly, regardless of the fact that the initiative came without consultations within the opposition, without the feeling that we are in a state of need to build opposition unity - the goal of which should be the healing of Podgorica and Montenegro as a whole. We believe that elections and the citizens' court are the most honest way out of the current dilemmas in the Capital City, which will ultimately determine the place and importance of each political entity. If this does not happen, the SEP remains committed to its program goals that have proven to be healing in both the past and the present, ready to be a corrective factor and an actor of a different political approach until the elections," the statement reads.
