The flag of the Kingdom of Montenegro belongs in the honorable and respected showcases of museums that preserve our history, and not as a sign of subversion and opposition or superiority over the state symbols of Montenegro.
This was announced today by the Municipal Committee (MC) of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Herceg Novi.
"It's time for festivities and carnival in Herceg Novi. It was to be expected that it would be some kind of 'time out' after six exhausting sessions of the local parliament in which the government showed all its ignorance, chaos in considering the lives of the citizens of Herceg Novi, and the proverbial arrogant decision-making resulting from the simple majority of the gathered political 'grandmothers and frogs'. They can do it, until that near moment comes when they can't do it anymore. But, here is a new 'feat' from the Novi grandmasters of incoherent moves," the statement reads.
According to them, the flag of, as some call it, the Kingdom of Montenegro was raised in front of the Municipality building.
"Although we know that this is the coat of arms of Montenegro from the state union in 2004, and not the coat of arms from the Kingdom era. Placed outside the law, of course, but disrespect for the law has become commonplace for the parliamentary majority, which constantly explicitly shows that it does not care about the laws of the state in which it is in power, but behaves towards them as it pleases or as someone orders them," the statement from the DPS Herceg Novi Local Government Office states.
According to them, need we say that this embellishment was not discussed at any time during the parliamentary sessions?
"None of the parties in power delegated this issue to the parliament, knowing, probably, that they have no foothold in either common sense or in the political context. That is why we are curious whose decision it was? Did the DNP, whose participation in the government in Herceg Novi is at the level of anecdotal symbolism, or did the Democrats and the New List, masquerade-style, change their European 'costumes' and return to their factory settings of despotism and irresponsibility? We ask this question, knowing that we will not get an answer - just as the citizens of this city and this country do not get one, to the tidal flood of scandals, tabloid sensationalism, and stumbles that undermine the dignity of the state. There will be no answer, it is masquerade time, although the masks have largely fallen," the statement reads.
The DPS Herceg Novi Local Government Office adds that the flag of the Kingdom of Montenegro has a place in the honorable and respected showcases of museums that preserve our history, and not as a sign of subversion and opposition or superiority over the state symbols of Montenegro.
"On the other hand, counterfeits like the one currently displayed on the municipal building should be dealt with by the competent inspectorates, which we expect to go out into the field and start doing their job," the statement concludes.
