The Basic Court in Podgorica ruled that the Board of Directors of the Radio Broadcasting Center (RDC) must return Željko Nikolić to the position of executive director. Last year, the board unanimously dismissed the then director, which Nikolić interpreted as the persecution of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which had previously left the ruling coalition.
The decision of judge Veljko Radovanović, which "Vijesti" had access to, states that Nikolić must be returned to the position of director.
"A different solution, i.e. returning to a workplace that corresponds to his professional training and working abilities, would be unfair and would open up space for the abuse of regulations by the employer and the dismissal of the director by circumventing the regulations contrary to the norms of the Labor Law, the General Collective Agreement because he has a legal interest to work in the position of executive director until the end of the period for which the contract was concluded", the verdict states.
The board dismissed Nikolić last April, with the explanation that an inspection of the business books established that he had not collected debts from the media amounting to more than 2,5 million euros. The verdict states that the Board of Directors approves the operation of the results of the RDC and reminds that they previously adopted the disputed reports. It is stated that Nikolić managed to achieve a positive financial result in 20014 and 0015, which the Board of Directors should have taken into account before the decision on the dismissal. It is also recalled that Nikolić's contract expires in November 2017.

Nikolić believes that the verdict confirmed that his dismissal was "political revanchism".
"The court gave its opinion on political violence. Unfortunately, the citizens pay for the illegal behavior of the DPS and their satellites. Political revanchism towards the SDP, due to our stance to oppose the sale of state resources, the court rightly stopped with a verdict in favor of the law and the protection of the right to work in accordance with the law, not party interest," he said.
