The actions of the Police Directorate (PD) in the case of the arrest and search of Aco Đukanović's apartment represent the culmination of the political abuse of this institution and its subordination to the interests of one party. This shameful attempt to divert attention from the scandals and abuses related to the Police Directorate has only further discredited and humiliated this institution.
This was assessed by the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), which said that the way in which this "farcical operation" was carried out completely compromises not only the director of the Police, Lazar Šćepanović, who, as they claim, has obviously completely subordinated this institution to the interests of Democratic Montenegro in order to remain in his position as director of the Police, but also Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, who allows the "crazy and extremely dangerous intentions" of individuals to be carried out with the help of the Police.
"The loss of self-control of MP Boris Bogdanović is particularly symptomatic, as he no longer hides that he is completely unauthorized in managing the actions of the UP; moreover, like an immature braggart, he is very clearly showing this in public and is grossly violating the law," the DPS statement said.
The DPS said that if this is the beginning of an election campaign by the ruling majority or a disappearing party that has hijacked the security sector and is abusing it, then this is a very dangerous phenomenon.
"Especially in a country that has the ambition to be part of the EU. This type of political persecution in the year preceding the elections calls into question the legitimacy of the elections that will be held in such an atmosphere. If this behavior of a party and its leaders, who have obviously hijacked and captured the security sector, is a dangerous practice that the Prime Minister approves, we, as the largest opposition party, will not allow it: we will demand accountability from the leaders of institutions that are financed by all citizens, and that have been hijacked, captured and misused to persecute political dissenters," the DPS concluded.
