The Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) never wanted Montenegro to become a member of the European Union, claims the head of the Democrats parliamentary group, Boris Bogdanović.
"Milo Đukanović said in one sentence everything that the DPS has done for Montenegro for years. When he said that the European Union is not a 'young bride to be rushed to', he made a political admission on his own behalf, and on behalf of the DPS, that his system was actually anti-EU. When we add to that message the devastating fact that in 11 years they managed to close only three miserable negotiation chapters, that during their rule criminal clans flourished to monstrous proportions, that the parliament was systematically obstructed, that the police was turned into an outpost of criminal clans, the ANB into a branch of the DPS, and vetting was persistently hindered, then there is no longer any dilemma. DPS never wanted Montenegro to become a member of the European Union," Bogdanović said.
He says that the party "during whose time the two largest criminal clans were created and strengthened", the party whose "most trusted people" are today accused of creating criminal organizations, cannot be the bearer of European values, but their "radical opponent".
"Because European standards mean the rule of law, responsibility, independent institutions and the truth. And the truth is precisely what they are running away from, because any serious European reform would mean exposing everything they have been hiding from the citizens of Montenegro for years," said Bogdanović.
