Ahead of tomorrow's session of the local parliament, which has already been postponed so many times, the Democratic People's Party calls for an extremely responsible approach by all subjects of the parliamentary majority in Pljevlja and for a final exit from the political crisis that has been unacceptably long, announced today the Democratic People's Party (DNP) MP in the Parliament of Montenegro and the President of the Municipal Committee (OO) of that party in Pljevlja, Vladislav Bojović.
According to him, it is high time that all decision-makers demonstrate a responsible attitude towards the citizens of this city, convinced that there will be no more room for any justifications and excuses if he is absent.
"After decades of DPS rule, marked by the brutal plunder of Pljevlja's resources and the citizens of this municipality, while ignoring their basic rights and needs, the people of Pljevlja have earned an elementary responsible, serious and dedicated attitude from those who now exercise local authority. All focus should be placed on the vital needs of the citizens of this city, and not on the needs or interests of individuals or any political entity," Bojović said in a statement.
He said that the citizens of Pljevlja need the least at this moment: instability, uncertainty, the blockade of institutions, the blockade of the local budget...
"Now that, faced with the disastrous legacy of the DPS rule, they expect their accumulated problems to be resolved and their needs to be serviced, but not partially and not in half a year, a year or two, but in the shortest possible time. Due to this situation that we have had for months, the people of Pljevlja can only suffer damage, and this in a situation where young people are still leaving or are seriously considering leaving this city. Starting from the inability to implement projects related to the construction, rehabilitation or reconstruction of neglected infrastructure, the payment of subsidies and other various forms of support and assistance, and so on. Therefore, the citizens of Pljevlja are rightly dissatisfied, many of them, again with full right, are outraged," he said.
Bojović added that a particular problem is that, "at this moment, taking into account everything that is happening to us in Pljevlja, the term tragicomedy contains the word tragedy."
He also said that it is therefore unacceptable for Pljevlja and the people of Pljevlja to be victims or hostages of anyone's, permanently or temporarily damaged personal relationships, animosity, increased intolerance, resentment, months of escalating tensions, or anyone's individual interests and calculations.
"The adoption and responsible implementation of the local budget is a dire need of the citizens of this city, we repeat and emphasize, after a long, too long period of rule by the kleptocratic DPS regime, due to which the number of inhabitants of this city has decreased by more than half. Therefore, we must not allow the situation we have today in Pljevlja to lead any of our fellow citizens to leave this municipality. After August 30, 2020, more than five years since the fall of the DPS, Pljevlja has not received anything close to what it deserves, there are no factories opening, there are at least no expressways that would connect us as a city to regional highways... and this city has given so much to Montenegro and Pljevlja still contributes so much to the GDP, they mean so much in terms of the economic potential they have, which unfortunately are still not used to the extent of starting the economy and creating new jobs, in order to keep the people of Pljevlja in their city and for the benefit of all of Montenegro. We are sure that there is not a single Pljevlja, whether he lives in this city "or not, but he feels like a Pljevlja resident who can understand and support this kind of blockade of institutions and the situation in our municipality, which has been going on for an unacceptably long time," Bojović pointed out.
He added that because of all of the above, he demands seriousness on behalf of the DNP.
"...And we call for a responsible approach to tomorrow's session of the local parliament, a responsible attitude towards the local budget, which should be adopted solely for the citizens of Pljevlja and their living needs," concluded Bojović.
