Boris Bogdanović's reaction represents another banal attempt to change theses and divert attention from the essential problems for which he and his party bear significant responsibility, Nebojša Vuksanović, advisor to the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović for domestic policy and economic development, announced today.
"The Montenegrin public well recognizes the political pattern that Bogdanović is trying to impose - a pattern in which a model of absolute control is established within his own party, similar to the one inherited by Kim Jong Un. "This 'North Korean model' of governance leaves no room for a different opinion. It is obvious that the same model is now trying to be applied to the institutions of the system and all citizens of Montenegro. Therefore, the reference to the European Union by those who deceived both institutions and citizens by claiming that their legal proposals are in line with EU legislation, which was later denied by the European Commission, is extremely hypocritical," Vuksanović emphasized in a statement.
He reacted to today's statement by the Secretary General and Head of the Democratic Montenegro parliamentary group, Boris Bogdanović, which states, among other things, "we with the EU, Milatović with the DPS, everyone finds their own company."
Bogdanović said this in response to Milatović saying today, when speaking about why he returned the adopted amendments to the Internal Affairs and ANB laws to parliament, that these laws "turn the state into North Korea."
Vuksanović added that they understand the nervousness of such statements.
"It stems from the fact that there is no response to serious and worrying failures in the security sector. Instead of accountability, the public has witnessed humiliating scenes and messages from fugitives and convicted persons who mock the state. In such a situation, the only 'answer' they offer is an attempt to introduce a police state by insisting on unconstitutional and undemocratic laws," Vuksanović said.
He stated that Milatović, on the contrary, acted responsibly and statesmanlike - he clearly and with arguments pointed out the shortcomings of the disputed legal solutions and returned them to the Parliament so that the parliamentary majority had the opportunity to improve them.
"This prevented a deeper institutional crisis and an attempt to return Montenegro to practices reminiscent of those from the time of Goli Otok. In the end, it is completely clear that the same people who defend such laws today would never have voted for them when they were in opposition. On the contrary, they would protest, and rightly so, just as numerous citizens, political entities and civil society organizations are protesting today," said Vuksanović.
According to him, those who adopt such legal solutions, as well as agreements that open up space for the sale of state property outside the public interest, under the guise of investments, cannot present themselves as fighters against crime and corruption.
"On the contrary, they increasingly act as fighters for their own political interests and the preservation of their positions. Citizens have recognized this. This is precisely why there is such nervousness and increasingly aggressive rhetoric from those who are trying to cover up their own political weaknesses by attacking the President of the country," Vuksanović said.
