As the Kotor Municipal Assembly (MA), thanks to the government councilors, has not been dissolved even today, although this is required, in addition to the findings of the Ministry of Public Administration, by the Law on Local Self-Government, and even though it represents a violation of the Constitution of Montenegro, DPS councilors will not attend the continuation of the session and participate in the simulation of democracy, the Municipal Board of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) Kotor announced today.
"Vladimir Jokić, who is usurping the position of Mayor of the Municipality, has apparently managed to convince councilors through blackmail methods that his position is more important than the government's rights in a country that aspires to be the first next EU member state. As a reminder, Jokić is the Mayor of the Municipality of Kotor in 2026 based on the support he received from councilors elected in the 2020 elections, and two election cycles have been held in the meantime. Which means that in addition to Batuta, the President of the Kotor Municipal Council, against whom criminal charges have been filed, councilors from the ruling parties have also decided to give legitimacy to lawlessness, i.e. the violation of legal and constitutional norms," the statement states.
The DPS Kotor added that "with their illegal actions, those in power are delaying something that is inevitable, because Jokić will pay the price for his illegal, illegitimate performance of the function of the first man of the city in the next elections, and for all his illegal actions and misdeeds in the Municipality of Kotor, which the public will only become aware of, he will answer at some point before the competent authorities of this state."
The DPS initiative to shorten the mandate of the Kotor Municipal Assembly (MA) was not adopted at today's session of the local parliament.
At the same session, Stojan Milović was appointed as the new Vice President of the Municipality, while Vuk Bojat was elected as the Vice President of the Kotor Municipal Assembly.
