DPS and ES Nikšić: End the racketeering of legal entities by the utility company and local authorities

The clubs of councilors of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) and the European Alliance (ES) in the Municipal Assembly (MA) of Nikšić announced today that they will initiate a session of the MA on Monday with the agenda item "Proposal of a decision on amendments to the Decision on granting approval to the prices of DOO Komunalno".

As they stated in the statement, they will initiate the session to "eliminate racketeering of legal entities by the Utility Company and local authorities."

"What is happening to the economy in Nikšić today is a political crime against the local economy directed by the Democrats, PES and For the Future of Nikšić," states a joint statement from the DPS and ES councilors' club submitted by DPS.

As they said, "the astronomical utility bills received by legal entities are a direct consequence of their arrogant, ignorant and knowingly harmful decision to increase the prices of utility services for legal entities."

"We warned at the Municipal Assembly session, loudly, clearly and with arguments. We offered analyses. We offered solutions. They ignored all of that and the government councilors raised their hands, not listening to our persistent warnings. But it was more important for them to turn incompetent party staff into successful directors than to protect the economy and citizens. Today the truth is exposed: PES, Democrats and For the Future of Nikšić have attacked the private sector," the statement states.

According to them, this price increase is not a decision, this is a racket.

"This is not governance, this is abuse of power. Businessmen in Nikšić are today paying the price of political trade, party recruitment and a complete lack of knowledge. People who create value and employ workers have been brought to the brink of survival due to the incompetence of others. And let it be completely clear: this must stop. If someone didn't trust us, now they trust the bills."

They also said that they will therefore submit an initiative on Monday to hold a session of the Municipal Assembly with one item on the agenda, which is the Proposal of a Decision on Amendments to the Decision on Approval of Prices for DOO Komunalno.

"Not an analysis, not a consideration, because we have already done that, but an immediate withdrawal of this shameful decision. If the government does not agree to this, it will bear full responsibility, political and otherwise. We will not allow Nikšić to become a city where the economy is destroyed so that party cadres can feign success," the statement from the DPS and ES councilors concludes.
