The Europe Now Movement (PES) will submit the amendment to the Law on the Voters' Register for the procedure, announced the party's MP Vasilije Čarapić.
He told TVCG that he hopes for the support of the majority, RTCG reports.
Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS) MP Nikola Rakočević said earlier today that the time has come "for real electoral reform" - for MPs from both the government and the opposition to declare whether they are in favor of open lists or not. He said that the DPS has proposed a law that offers citizens open lists in the upcoming local and parliamentary elections.
"In principle, as someone who supports electoral lists, we support this. What we do not support and what is somewhere a mistake of the DPS is that, beyond consensus, they tried to put a certain law on the agenda that requires 54 votes. I think that by doing so, they are creating a risk that others will not support the amendments to the law for purely formal and legitimate reasons and that the reform will therefore not receive the necessary support. I think they have opened Pandora's box, but if they are ready to submit a law from the electoral reform corpus without consulting other subjects, I announce that the PES will submit the procedure for amending the Law on the Voters' List and that in this way we will manage to gain support for that part of the law as well," Čarapić pointed out.
