The sacrifice of all soldiers and officers of the Yugoslav Army has not and will never be forgotten, said Assembly President Andrija Mandić.
The office of the head of parliament announced that he laid a wreath today at the "People's Hero Milovan Šaranović" barracks in Danilovgrad, paying tribute to "the innocent victims and heroes who defended the skies and borders of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia 27 years ago."
"The wreath is dedicated to the first victim of NATO bombing, the young soldier Saša Stajić, as well as to all the heroes who gave their lives in defense of our common homeland, reminding us that we remember all innocent civilian victims with reverence and dignity. On this occasion, President Mandić spoke with the family of the fallen soldier Saša Stajić, emphasizing that his sacrifice, as well as that of all soldiers and officers of the Yugoslav Army, has not and will never be forgotten," the statement reads.
The head of parliament, as stated in a separate statement, also laid a wreath at the "Vojvoda Marko Miljanov Popović" barracks in the Podgorica neighborhood of Masline, "paying tribute to the heroes who defended the skies, land and sea of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia 27 years ago, as well as the innocent civilian victims of that conflict."
"The wreath is dedicated to the 'heroes of our country', with the message that we proudly remember them as brave people who, driven by sincere patriotism and love for their homeland, stood in defense of the common state and gave it everything, including their own lives," the statement reads.
