The government and the parliamentary majority are fully committed to fulfilling all obligations from the European agenda, and key laws need to be adopted by the end of July, in order to close all negotiation chapters between Montenegro and the European Union this year.
The Office of Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announced that this was announced at a meeting between Spajić and the leaders of the parliamentary majority, as part of consultations that Spajić initiated with representatives of all parliamentary parties, regarding the fulfillment of obligations from the European agenda.
"This ambitious but achievable goal requires stronger political will, constant institutional coordination and full responsibility of all political actors," Spajić stressed, the statement said.
Spajić's office said that during the talks, the focus "was on defining the next steps in the demanding finale of the negotiation process, with the agreement that the so-called blue flag laws, for which the European Commission's opinions have been received, are an absolute priority in the work of the parliament."
"The expectation was expressed that the majority of laws whose adoption is necessary for the purpose of harmonization with European regulations and the purpose of closing negotiation chapters can be adopted by the end of July, i.e. by the end of the regular spring session of the Parliament of Montenegro. The importance of political dialogue in parliament was particularly emphasized, bearing in mind that political stability is a prerequisite for the successful completion of negotiations," reads a statement from Spajić's cabinet.
It is stated that Spajić's talks with opposition representatives are planned for tomorrow.
The leader and MP of the Civic Movement (GP) URA, Dritan Abazović, said at today's parliamentary session that the opposition will not participate in the meeting with Spajić.
"Vijesti" reported earlier today that Spajić held a meeting in the Government with representatives of the parliamentary majority, on the topic of the pace of adoption of laws from the European agenda.
The meeting was held ahead of the visit of European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Marta Kos.
