Leader and MP of the Democratic People's Party (DNP), Milan Knežević, called on the citizens of Kula of Montenegrin origin to support the list of Aleksandar Vučić's Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in the local elections on Sunday.

"My dear Vasojevići, Rovčani, Moračani, Drobnjaci, Uskoci, Hercegovci, Katunjani, Bjelopavlići... All of you who live in Kula, I would like to extend my warmest greetings from Podgorica and say - yes, I was at the Arena on March 21st and saw many of you, which was an immeasurable pleasure for me, because I knew that you and I were there not because we were against anyone, but because we were for Serbia - a prosperous, economically, militarily neutral, defiant Serbia that does not forget its history or its past, but which irresistibly strives for the future, independent of external influences and attempts to be subdued," said Knežević in a video message on Facebook.

As he told them, both he and those he is addressing want Serbia to be the strongest in the Balkans.

"That is also my motive for addressing all of you, because I know that you love Serbia as your homeland, that you wish it well, and that on March 29th you will round off the list under number 1 'Aleksandar Vučić', which guarantees everything that we have wanted our Serbia to be for years and decades, and that is the strongest state in the Balkans," he pointed out.

He said he expects the result in Kula and other municipalities to be "more than clear."

"This has nothing to do with politics anymore. This has nothing to do with everyday political calculations, ups and downs and showdowns. This is a fight for the future of our children, for the future of the idea of freedom that Serbia has passed on through the centuries, and that is why I have no doubt that on Sunday, March 29, both in Kula and in the other nine municipalities, the result will be more than clear or, as the bookmakers would say, 'from ace to ace'," said the DNP leader.

On Sunday, elections in Serbia will be held in Aranđelovac, Bor, Bajina Bašta, Smederevska Palanka, Majdanpek, Kladovo, Knjaževac, Lučani and the Užice city municipality of Sevojno.

Kula is one of the Vojvodina municipalities where colonization took place after World War II, and it is estimated that around 7.000 families from Montenegro were then settled in the province in northern Serbia. According to the latest census, held in 2022, 1.992 ethnically declared Montenegrins live in Kula, which represents around five percent of the population.
