Montenegrin delegation participates in the work of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe

The 50th session of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CoE) began today in Strasbourg, with the participation of the Montenegrin delegation, whose members will discuss important and current social issues and attend the start of the implementation of a new joint program of the European Union and the CoE intended for the Western Balkans.

This was announced by the Municipality of Budva.

As announced during the first day of the plenary session, the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities has elected Norwegian Gun Marit Helgesen as its new president.

The Montenegrin delegation includes the President of the Municipality of Budva Nikola Jovanović, the President of the Municipality of Plav Nihad Canović, the Secretary General of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro (ZOCG) Mišela Manojlović, and the Assistant Secretary General of the ZOCG and Secretary of the Delegation Milica Radojičić.

The Congress session is also attended by the President of the Board of Directors of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro and the President of the Municipality of Žabljak, Radoš Žugić, who tomorrow, together with the Secretary General, will participate in the ceremonial launch of the LORAI program on behalf of Montenegrin local governments.

"During tomorrow's plenary session, Nikola Jovanović will address the members of the Congress on the topic of violence against officials and Nihad Canović on the topic of free elections at the local and regional levels. Members of the delegation will also participate in the work of key bodies of the Congress, such as the Monitoring Committee and the Governance Committee, which contribute to the development of policies in the areas of decentralization, financial autonomy and good governance at the local level," the Municipality of Budva announced.
