Four candidates have applied for the public call for the election of members of the Judicial Council from among the ranks of prominent lawyers, the Parliamentary Committee for the Political System, Judiciary and Administration announced today.
The candidates who applied for the public call are: Bojana Franović Kovačević, Aleksandar Kovačević, Šabo Luboder and Marko Mirjanić.
The public call for the election of members of the Judicial Council was announced on March 12 of this year, in accordance with the Law on the Judicial Council and Judges.
A candidate who is at least 40 years of age, has 15 years of work experience as a lawyer, notary, professor of law or in other legal activities, enjoys personal and professional reputation, and has not been convicted of criminal offenses that make judges unworthy of exercising judicial office may be elected as a member of the Judicial Council from among eminent lawyers.
Completing the Judicial Council is one of the key conditions for closing Chapters 23 and 24 in Montenegro's negotiations with the EU, which relate to the rule of law.
