President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović met at Villa Gorica with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium Maxime Prevost.
As announced by the President's Office, it has been confirmed that Montenegro and Belgium have high-quality political cooperation and a common interest in making it even more concrete.
"The focus of the conversation was Montenegro's European integration and Belgium's support for the enlargement policy, with the message that we are entering the final phase of reform processes that should yield measurable results in the rule of law and strengthening institutions. The hosting of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat on June 5 was particularly highlighted, as an opportunity for Montenegro to further strengthen its European position and accelerate the path towards the strategic goal of full membership in the European Union by 2028," it was announced.
The interlocutors discussed strengthening economic ties, investment and tourism cooperation, as well as the need for better transport connections, through the establishment of a direct air route Podgorica - Brussels.
It was also announced that topics of cooperation in the digitalization of public administration, innovation and education have been opened, with both sides expressing interest in continuing the practice of economic meetings and business forums that connect companies and institutions of the two countries.
Milatović said that Montenegro remains a reliable NATO ally and a credible partner, committed to the stability of the region and policies that bring concrete benefits to citizens.
