During a working visit to Berlin, the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, met with representatives of the Montenegrin diaspora, in the year marking the 20th anniversary of the restoration of the country's independence.
The meeting, the President's Office announced, marked the beginning of the implementation of Milatović's activities from the anniversary marking program "Meetings with the Diaspora - Preserving Connections and Identity", aimed at further strengthening relations with our citizens abroad.
Milatović emphasized that this meeting is not just a protocol act, but a concrete step towards stronger and more meaningful cooperation, emphasizing that the diaspora represents a pillar of Montenegrin society and an important resource for the overall development of the country.
"The initiative for the introduction of bonds for the diaspora, which the President initiated, was particularly highlighted, as a model through which our people abroad can directly contribute to investing in specific projects in Montenegro. The President emphasized that the diaspora represents an important bridge between Montenegro and the rest of the world, and that its stronger involvement can contribute to a greater inflow of investments, development and the opening of new economic opportunities," it was announced.
Speaking about the country's European path, Milatović pointed out that membership in the European Union remains Montenegro's key foreign policy goal, emphasizing that its achievement requires the unity of all social actors, both in the country and in the diaspora.
"Montenegro can only succeed if we are united around a common goal, to build a stable, prosperous and strong European state," said Milatović.
He invited the diaspora to celebrate July 13, Statehood Day, in Montenegro together, as a strong symbol of unity and confirmation of lasting and strong ties between the mother country and its citizens around the world.
