At the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides, Montenegrin President Jakov Milatović will visit Nicosia on May 18, the office of the head of state announced.

"The focus of the talks will be the drafting of the EU Accession Treaty, given that the formation of an ad hoc working group for the preparation of the Accession Treaty was announced today," the statement said.

They added that Milatović thanked the President of Cyprus for the invitation and support for Montenegro.

"Cyprus is a dedicated friend of Montenegro and a strong supporter of the enlargement of the European Union. Since our last conversation on this topic, I have been confident that we can start the preparation of the Treaty on the Accession of Montenegro during the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU," the head of state announced at the IX.

He also thanked them for the invitation.

"I look forward to continuing our close cooperation on Montenegro's path to EU membership. This is a joint effort and success!", he said.
