SEP: We expect DNP's support for the removal of Jelena Borovinić Bojović

The Party of European Progress (SEP) said that they expect the support of the Democratic People's Party (DNP) for the removal of the Speaker of the Podgorica Parliament, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, and that they concluded this from conversations with their councilors.

This was announced at a press conference by SEP councilor Ilija Mugoša.

"DNP will potentially support this initiative of ours. We concluded this from conversations with DNP councilors, from whom we now expect support," he announced.

He announced that he would have a sufficient number of signatures on Monday.

"After consultations with the opposition and part of the government, we have sufficient numbers to dismiss Borovinić Bojović. We are aware that the session will be obstructed," he said.

He added that he will initiate the election of the vice president of the Capital City Assembly at the same session where the vote to remove the president will be held in order to prevent forced administration.

"As serious people, we will not allow this. If it suits the government and part of the opposition, I invite them to speak out. In five months of work, we have only held two sessions. The mayor's work report has not yet entered the parliamentary procedure, and it should have. These two initiatives should resolve this situation, with the aim of enabling the functioning of the Capital City," he said.

His party colleague Aleksandar Milošević said that they had repeatedly reiterated that SEP "will not be the opposition to its city."

"We are all witnesses to a very poor situation in the capital. We are not criticizing for the sake of criticism - but rather offering concrete and sustainable solutions. Our councilors are making a fair contribution to this," he pointed out.

"We were surprised by Borovinić Bojović's reaction when she said that SEP was waking up from hibernation. We were surprised, but so be it. The capital is grappling with problems. Traffic is catastrophic, Zelenilo has not planted a single tree, streets are being reconstructed every year and 80 meters, I will not even comment on the situation at FK Budućnost," he added.

As he pointed out, they are obliged to "inform citizens that obstruction is being prepared."

"We are entering a legal situation where it is impossible to schedule a session if there is no vice president, which leads to compulsory administration. We will bring this to light. We will initiate the election of a vice president through urgent procedures," he said.

He called on the opposition "to sit down next Sunday to come up with that name."

"It is a matter of assessment and agreement on who will protect the interests of the Capital City so that they do not enter into a blockade. We are talking about reports on the work of city enterprises, reports on the work of branch heads. This is a good model because we see that some are planning to go to the reserve position - the Government. We will not allow compulsory administration for this reason," he explained, adding that, if it were introduced, no one would be accountable to the citizens, and next year they would enter temporary financing.

Mugoša said he expects the session to be held next week.
