Parliament Speaker Andrija Mandić said he was proud of the fact that he had the opportunity to pay tribute, not only on his own behalf, but also on behalf of the country, to the victims of the NATO bombing in Murin, his office announced.
Today, in Murin, he laid a wreath at the memorial dedicated to the victims of the NATO bombing, "paying deep respect and preserving the lasting memory of the innocent civilians who died in that tragic event on this day, 27 years ago."
"On that occasion, President Mandić dedicated a wreath to the 'Martyrs of Murin', as our Serbian Orthodox Church calls them, emphasizing that today we reverently remember six innocent victims - Olivera, Julija, Milka, Manojlo, Miroslav and Vukić, with the message that their suffering will remain in the collective memory of Montenegro," the statement said.
He added that he is proud to be doing this in his capacity as head of parliament.
"I am proud of the fact that for many years, and for the second time in my capacity as President of the Parliament of Montenegro, together with you, representing Montenegro, I have paid tribute and have the opportunity to pay homage, not only on my own behalf, but also on behalf of the state, to their innocent suffering," said Mandić.
Before the wreath laying, a memorial liturgy was served at the Church of St. Petka.
