Todorović: Financial wizard Jovanović must answer how 20 million was spent because there is no salary

The Democratic People's Party (DNP) has called on the President of the Municipality of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, to present to the public how 20 million euros were spent and the money collected this year, since there is no money in the city treasury and workers have not received their salaries.

"For months now, the Municipality of Budva and its so-called President Jovanović have been publicly boasting about the 'largest budget in the history of the municipality', presenting the financial picture as stable and almost ideal. Citizens have been fed a story about a surplus, responsible management and as much as 20 million euros of funds carried over from the previous year. Today, however, we are witnessing a brutal collision of that propaganda with reality: the accounts are empty, employees of the Municipality of Budva have no income, and they waited for the holiday without the earnings they are entitled to by law. A simple question arises: where did that 'record budget' disappear and how is it possible that the richest municipality in Montenegro, which boasted of a surplus of funds, is now unable to pay its basic obligations to its own workers?", states the statement by DNP councilor in the Budva parliament, Jovana Todorovic.

Of particular concern, she pointed out, is the fact that this is happening for the first time after a long period of DPS rule, right now when they have once again taken over the governance of Budva together with their coalition partner Nikola Jovanović ("Budva is our city").

"Symbolic or not, with the return of DPS, the old scenario is also returning, and these are blocked accounts, non-transparent management and complete uncertainty for employees. Workers today do not know when they will receive their salaries, citizens do not know where the millions that the city leaders boasted about so loudly have ended up, but the only thing we know is that the pompous statements about the 'historic budget' were as empty as the municipal coffers at this moment. If this is their financial genius, then the only thing that is really growing in the Municipality of Budva is the level of impudence with which they are trying to sell the obvious collapse to the citizens as a success. In the end, let this 'financial magician' in the form of the so-called mayor answer the citizens' questions: where did the 20 million euros of funds transferred from last year disappear and where are the funds for regular budget replenishment from January this year to today?", concludes Todorović.
