The Budva Democrats announced that the competent institutions will determine how the Mayor of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, spent 21 million euros on the combinations of the Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), and the multi-million dispute that the Municipality lost and because of which the account was blocked and the salaries of the workers were not paid was led by a lawyer who is Jovanović's godfather.
This is stated in the Democrats' reaction to the statement "Budva is our city": They lost the elections and attacked Budva out of desperation.
"There is no reason to be nervous, Mr. Jovanović, you chose your partners yourself and chose DPS, malicious people would say, like attracts like! Of course, we have been warning all along not to do what you did, not to rush to pay off every DPS combination, but for some reason (which will be determined by the competent institutions) you chose to pay for every DPS combination once again with the money of the citizens of Budva and that's how it ends," the Democrats point out.
As they point out, it is striking that 21 million euros were transferred from 2025 to 2026 and that Jovanović squandered this huge amount of money from the citizens of Budva in a record time of a few months, and on all the most problematic DPS combinations.
"That's the price of DPS's 'project support', Mr. Jovanović! Now, with them, you are the only one who managed to bring perhaps the most financially powerful municipality to the freezing of its accounts and the collapse of its municipal finances! Now you are panickingly accusing everyone else, but that won't help, be sure of that, Mr. Jovanović! You are accusing everyone, but the indisputable fact is that the very dispute that the municipality lost and because of which the account was frozen was led by a lawyer who is your godfather! This clearly shows, Mr. Jovanović, that you deserve DPS as a partner, you have fully adopted their modus operandi of plundering the municipal budget through related persons. Where is the money of the citizens of Budva, Mr. Jovanović?", the Democrats say.
